Omega Bioservices provides a full suite of laboratory services with a primary focus on next-generation sequencing services and DNA/RNA extraction and purification. Located just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, Omega Bioservices grew out of its parent company, Omega Bio-tek, a manufacturer of biological reagents since 1998. One of our strengths is our capability and expertise in performing the up-front sample extraction and nucleic acid purification that is critical for producing high quality NGS data.

Sample Extraction

Years of knowledge and experience in R&D and manufacturing of magnetic bead-based (Mag-Bind®) and silica filter-based (E.Z.N.A.®) DNA and RNA purification kits enables us to perform extractions on your samples with much higher yields and quality when compared to leading competitors, yet at only a fraction of the cost. We specialize in the highest quality recovery of DNA and RNA for NGS and other applications from FFPE samples, the most damaged, difficult and valuable sample type.

Next-Generation Sequencing

Our Illumina HiSeq 2500 utilizes the newest V4 chemistry for improved generation of up to 1 Tb of sequencing data in as little as 6 days. Our MiSeq runs the latest V3 chemistry to generate up to 15 Gb of sequence data in 2 days using the 2×300 bp read format, the longest currently available from Illumina. We have specialized workflows for optimal data generation from RNA-Seq (small, messenger, total), Exome-Seq, Methyl-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and 16s metagenomics, as well as strategies for whole genome sequencing to help you analyze that single cell or assemble and finish the genome of your organism of interest.

Bioinformatics

We offer a wide variety of bioinformatics analysis services such as filtering, trimming, variant calling, identifying, mapping, alignment, assembly, gene expression, annotation, etc. free of charge with our sequencing service. However, as NGS methods continue to improve and evolve, existing bioinformatics programs might not meet your needs. For customized data analyses, we have both in house and networked bioinformatics expertise with years of experience in human, microbiological and agricultural genomics.
